Greetings readers! I'd like to introduce you to my interests and disinterests. First, (like anyone with a pulse) I enjoy reading something that will keep me engaged and constantly attempting to predict what will happen next in a book. I believe I share a common feeling about reading with everyone: if a book is boring, I am not interested in it. With that being said, I understand that it takes time to develop a story and that the climax of the novel can not simply occur on the first page. To this effect, subject matter is an essential aspect of a book in my eyes. My topic preference varies greatly, but I always enjoy a book that combines mystery with either sports, politics, crime, or war. Politics, specifically, is always something I like to read, especially when it incorporates a plot full of corruption and deceit. I am not generally interested in science-fiction, fantasy, or holocaust. I really like a book that, while fictional, seems realistic enough to be true, which is why I am not fond of books involving dragons or wizards. One of my favorite books that I have read is Deception Point by: Dan Brown. The book masterfully creates several unpredictable plots that manage to fluidly coexist in a manner that leave the reader speechless. The protagonists's chase of the truth leads her on a path of discovering her own father's corrupt politics, which is a story that is right up my alley because it incorporates politics and mystery. By far the worst book I have ever read is Nectar in a Sieve by: Kamala Markandaya. To this day I could not accurately tell you what it is about. It's subject matter of a destitute girl in India and its relatively lifeless plot combined to put me to sleep fairly quickly. I think that everyone will enjoy my blog because I speak frankly regarding my true thoughts on literature.
